Ariadne Scenarios: Model Documentation

REMIND (Regional Model of Investments and Development) is a global multi-regional energy-economy-climate model that covers the years 2005-2100.
Responsible project partner: Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research

The REMod energy system model is a simulation-based optimization of (trans-)national energy supply systems which calculates possible cost-optimal transformation paths to a carbon neutral energy system.
Responsible project partner: Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE

FORECAST Industry is a bottom-up simulation model. It calculates scenarios of energy demand and GHG-emissions of the industry sector.
Responsible project partner: Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI

The ALADIN – Alternative Automobiles Diffusion and INfrastructure – model is an agent-based simulation model that determines the market diffusion of alternative drivetrains for passenger cars, trucks, buses, airplanes, and ships.
Responsible project partner: Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI

ASTRA-M (ASsessment of TRAnsport Strategies) is a System Dynamics model suitable for conducting strategic analyses of the transport sector with integrated bundles of policy instruments.
Responsible project partner: Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI

PyPSA (Python for Power System Analysis) is an open source modelling framework for optimizing investment and operation in energy systems at high temporal and spatial resolution.
Responsible project partner: Technische Universität Berlin, Fraunhofer Research Institution for Energy Infrastructures and Geothermal Systems IEG

The SCOPE Path and SCOPE SD model variants enable the determination of installed capacities in future cost-optimized energy sector-spanning scenarios for Europe. They differ in the closed path optimization with lower temporal and spatial resolution and the detailed determination of individual support years. The SCOPE EM electricity market model enables detailed analyses of pricing on the European electricity markets and grid node-specific analyses in the German transmission grid on the basis of these determined capacities.
Responsible project partner: Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Economics and Energy System Technology
